What Is External Review?

External review (also called independent review) lets an independent, licensed Institutional Review Organization (IRO) review your insurance company's denial — completely outside the insurer's control. If they rule in your favor, the insurer must comply. Success rates range from 40-60% depending on denial type and state. Most external reviews are free for consumers and must be completed within 60 days (45 days for standard review, 72 hours for urgent).
